For those who don't want to bother with the above procedure, here's a link to download the fixed Google Earth 7.1.1.1580 for x86_64: ---
UPDATE: The Google Earth version above is out-of-date. You can download the latest one from this post.
It's a tar.7z archive. Just extract the RPM inside and install withEnjoy!Code:su -c "yum localinstall <directory_containing_the_RPM_package>/google-earth-stable-7.1.1.1580-0.x86_64.rpm"

Thank you Mr Wolf, that worked well.

Have you been seduced by siduction? http://siduction.org/index.php
Running Fedora 19/20, siduction and openSUSE 13.1 with KDE
Am getting Signal 11 on F19 with google-earth-stable-7.1.1.1580-0.FIXED.x86_64.rpm
Used yum to upgrade from F18 to F19. Was asked to uninstall my well functioning googleearth-6.0.3.2197-2.fc18.i686. Tried to install the latest version but got the message "conflicts with .." so tried the rpmrebuild, but could not find the line " %dir %attr(0755, root, root) "/usr/bin" ", so installed the FIXED version as per Mr Wolf.Code:[0705/085354:ERROR:net_util.cc(2195)] Not implemented reached in bool net::HaveOnlyLoopbackAddresses() [0705/085355:WARNING:backend_impl.cc(1875)] Destroying invalid entry. [0705/085356:ERROR:nss_ocsp.cc(581)] No URLRequestContext for OCSP handler. Google Earth has caught signal 11.
I have no idea about your issue.
Anyway, it has been pointed out already. Have a look at the following pages:
Operating system: Fedora 20 "Heisenbug" x86_64
Desktop environment: Gnome
This may not help you much but that version of google-earth is working fine here on my F19 64bit system. I have it installed using my earlier approach before Mr. Wolf posted his 'FIXED' rpm solution. http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showth...74#post1650374

Thanks, tried weitjong's metod (did not have qtwebkit-devel installed before) with a similar but error message:
Code:/opt/google/earth/free/google-earth %f [0707/124252:ERROR:net_util.cc(2195)] Not implemented reached in bool net::HaveOnlyLoopbackAddresses() [0707/124252:ERROR:nss_ocsp.cc(581)] No URLRequestContext for OCSP handler. Hi there!
Just to confirm that Mr. Wolf's fixed package works fine under Fedora 19 x86_64 /clean install/, with NVidia driver too.
Thanks Mr. Wolf, a job well done!
I've got Google Earth installed and apparently stable with F18 64 bit, except for one issue. I can navigate around by using my mouse or the ' fly to this photo's location ' option, but if I enter a location in the ' fly to ' on the sidebar it fails with the message ' Invalid HTTP request '. Any thoughts?
To get the right answer, one must first ask the right question!
Desktop F20 ( 64 bit )
Laptop F20 ( 32 bit )
One more thank you to Mr Wolf!
Especially since...
When I try rpmrebuild on my recently upgraded f17-f19 system, it spits out the message:
error: incorrect format: invalid field width
and the resulting specfile doesn't contain the /usr/bin entry, BUT, the rpm still fails w/ the conflict.
fwiw..., the RPM I just downloaded from the goog was built July 12th 2013.
That error depends on a bug of rpmrebuild 2.8. With rpmrebuild 2.9 (which, by the way, has been packaged for Fedora 18 but not for Fedora 19; the reason for this is a mystery to me...) everything works fine.
Update (December 28, 2013)
Fixed RPM packages of Google Earth 7.1.2.2041:
Just download the RPM and install it withCode:su -c "yum localinstall <path_to_the_RPM_package>"
Enjoy!![]()

Thanks Mr Wolf but I am afraid I am still getting Signal 11 with the fixed version of Google Earth 7.1.1.1888 for x86_64
Code:$ /opt/google/earth/free/google-earth %f [0723/225739:ERROR:net_util.cc(2195)] Not implemented reached in bool net::HaveOnlyLoopbackAddresses() Google Earth has caught signal 11.
Thanks for Mr Wolf!
I installed Google Earth 7.1.1.1888 for x86_64 on my F19 box with ati display card, it works fine.
Home: Pentium III. 768M. GeForce GT 730. 120G(3 HDDs)
Office: Lenovo Xiaoxin 700-15ISK
Fedora 28
Thanks for that Mr Wolf, worked for me as well.
FWIW, I did have Google Earth 7 working at one stage direct from the Google Earth download using a method posted by another Forum member. However, that eventually stopped working. I assume something got updated that broke it.
I notice that the Google Earth install, both direct from GE and via Mr Wolf's rpm, installs its own Google Earth repo file. Does this mean that as soon as Google Earth post an updated rpm we risk the problem rearing its head again?
