Question How to disable updates in gnome-software?

I try to turn off the automatic update (notification) feature of gnome-software. I found this:

    https://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipe...ay/115810.html

Unfortunately, it does not work on gnome 3.12 (rhughes-f20-gnome-3-12 copr). I still get update notifications all the time. Any ideas?

Seems to work for me just fine.
Have you restarted, logged out or killed gnome-software afterwards?

Re: How to disable updates in gnome-software?

In GNOME 3.12 the updates plugin has been removed from gnome-settings-daemon, now the updates are supposed to be handled by gnome-software.

I don't use gnome-software so I am not sure this will work, but you can prevent gnome-software from starting at login, this may well stop the updates notifications. Copy /etc/xdg/autostart/gnome-software-service.desktop to ~/.config/autostart/ (create ~/.config/autostart/ if it doesn't exist), then edit ~/.config/autostart/gnome-software-service.desktop and add this line to it:
    Code:
    X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false
then log out -> log in.

    Seems to work! Thank you!

Okay, after not updating for a while I also get the persistent nagging.
    Thanks for the right steps.

Re: How to disable updates in gnome-software?

In dconf-editor, I found org.gnome.software. It has a checkbox for download-updates which is checked by default. I will try running with it unchecked. The description reads: "If enabled, gnome-software automatically downloads updates in the background and prompts the user to install them when ready." I am running Gnome v. 3.14.3 in Fedora 21 x86_64.

Re: How to disable updates in gnome-software?

Yes, since F21 the dconf setting is enough to disable auto downloading updates.
