Acer Aspire 1680 WLCI Widescreen FC4

For some reason I have an issue with getting my laptop to actually display at 1280x800. I have modified xorg as mentioned in many other topics with no luck. I can select 1280x800 in the display options, but it isn't available under screen resolution (it only gives me 1024x768, 800x600 and 640x480). When I have display set to 1024x768 it gives the exact same result as 1280x800 (it streches the 1024x768 over the whole screen).

Can anyone offer a solution for a true widescreen resolution?
