FC 3 -> FC 4 upgrade issue - Can't boot GUI anymore

Last night I upgraded my current FC3 to FC4, and now I am unable to boot into KDE or Gnome (Gnome being my regular desktop). XFCE works ok, which is what I am using now.

One time when I tried to boot into either KDE or Gnome, I don't remember which, it said something about the GUI not being able to get an address, and suggested putting it into the /etc/hosts file, which I did. This has done nothing to help load a gui - I still get the same problem.

Any solutions?

edit: typos
