seg fault with mplayer and xine, no sound w/ cdplayer


I'm running FC3 on an x86_64 machine. I've got a little bit of a mix of 64 and 32 bit code in order to run mozilla and its plug-ins

Currently, I'm trying to play a cd and am having no luck.

I try cdplayer and Grip and the CD plays but no sound.
I try mplayer and xine and the suckers just crash.

xmms, btw works with files I have stored on the computer but it can't see the CD which, as I understand, has to do with the fact that the CD really isn't a file system per se.

I've tried running gmplayer with the option -v 3, but it seg faults immediately.

Any thoughts?
