How to RPM a Pet Project?

I have a university project that I compile in Eclipse. How do I go about turning this C++ project into a .tar.gz. I would like to create an RPM out of that .tar.gz which I'm capable of doing. But building the .tar.gz with libtool, autconf and automake is beyond me. I don't think the .tar.gz has to be Fedora specific, but I'm asking the question here anyways. If you could help me I would really appreciate it.

Really all you need to make a .tar.gz is GNU tar and some install instructions. But for rpms you'll want it automated, and that usually means autoconf and make.

I believe Eclipse uses a makefile to build projects. Start with that.
