Wifi security issue with Realtek rtl8723

I just recently purchased a toshiba L840d, and it comes with the Realtek 8723. I installed the driver from http://askubuntu.com/questions/13963...not-recognized and that works with unsecured networks but where there is wep or wpa security it will not connect.
