Using JBoss AS7 in Fedora 17 as a regular user

yum install jboss-as is a beautiful thing, but the AS7 deployment directory (along with anything else AS7 might need to write to like the tmp and log directories) are all writable only by root. Is there some kind of standard or accepted way in which a regular user could develop against AS7 in Fedora 17?
