How to display the video which captured by v4l in the window

I do video capturing under the linux. I use the v4l2 API. How can I display the video which captured by v4l in the window?

I don't know about such things, but I'd start by reading up on gstreamer. It's a library that handles audio and video from various sources (files, v4l etc.) and writes them to various outputs (files, screen etc.), including codec handling etc.

You could look at the source code for xawtv or tvtime, both of which are in the Fedora repos.
