kwin desktop effects with intel gfx

Hi --

Just wanted to post on how I got kwin compositing working with my integrated intel graphics card. This worked fine under F13 (also running kde 4.5.2 from the kde-redhat repos), but since updating to F14 recently, I have been unable to enable desktop effects. Doing so would either throw a 'not allowed with current settings' error, or a slightly garbled desktop (if I tell kwin to disable functionality checks).

After some random fiddling around with settings, I found that everything works fine as long as I select 'Texture from pixmap' as the OpenGL mode, rather than 'Shared memory'.

I find this a bit strange, since (as I understand it) with my integrated graphics, both settings will actually be using 'shared memory', with 'texture from pixmap' just pretending to be using memory in the card.

But, I thought I'd post this here in case someone else runs into a similar problem.
