Intel 5100 wireless is performance challenged...

It seems like some recent kernel changes have slowed down the
wireless (intel 5100 ) speeds on my HP 3085dx laptop...

Over the last couple of weeks, according to the Network Manager Connection panel I
have not been able to connect faster than 64Mb/sec.

I have a 'no name' usb wireless stick (uses the rt2870sta driver) that typically runs
at 130 Mb/sec on my old HP laptop.

The new HP 3085dx is about six inches from my Airport Extreme Base Station.
The old laptop is on another floor on the other side of the house....

Is it the kernel or the iwlagn driver?
