yumex updates

Hi folks

I'm running Fedora 8, but I don't want to wipe the system clean and reinstall everything from scratch.

Is it possible to use yum to selectively update packages of choice? For example, I want to move to glew 1.5.2 - I know blender and ogre depend on glew.

I'd like to be able to use yum to update to glew 1.5.2 and have it automatically update blender and ogre.

Does anyone know the repositories I'd need to specify?

glew-1.5.2 isn't even in the F12 repos, it's in the rawhide (F13) repo, or on koji. That's a bit of a reach. Click on the "(info)" link on the clew-1.5.2 package on the site I linked to, then browse down to the "Requires" section. Can F8 provide all that? You're going to have to update Fedora eventually if you want to keep abreast of the newest software packages. Your other option is to try and build the latest version of glew from source code and hope F8 can handle the build requirements for doing that task.
