Laptop in dock not showing top/bottom toolbars

I have a Lenovo X61 laptop that works great when not in the dock, and until today, worked perfectly in the dock;; however I am seeing a new issue with my Fedora 11 installation. My machine in the dock start ups fine and I get the standard UI for the user/password. After entering that information, I get the standard Fedora 11 background screen and short intro music. I have my machine setup to open a terminal window at startup and I see that window as expected but my background is black and I don't see the top or bottom toolbar. I am able to enter CTR-ALT-DEL to do a shutdown or reboot.

Any thoughts?
