Fedora 10 Lenovo N100 - Some Questions (Microdia Webcam and Fingerprint)

Hi @all,

first, I'm new to fedora and rpm-distributions in general. I have used just debian and debian-based distributions for years. I'm very impressed of F10 and the KDE4-Desktop but I have some questions concerning some build-stuff.

Most of the things on my Lenovo N100 works oob but for Webcam (Microdia) and Fingerprint it seems that I have to build my own drivers.
So, for example, I read this site:

http://groups.google.com/group/micro...a77e18ffb79a05 and I'm just a bit confused

How can I build this? What I have to do? I set up rpmbuild (Iread spme stuff about this) but I'm not able to build this driver. What's a SPEC? How to handle with this? Are there some "RPM-Newbies-Site" explaining this?

Or could someone help me to build this driver, so I just could the how to handle with this for the first time?

Thanx in advance for your help.

Greez w.

Please don't bump. It's against forum rules, actually, (especially the 3 in one day yesterday.)
I've taken the liberty of changing the title of the thread so that people who might know are more likely to see the thread. (At this point, the forums are so busy that many people just scan the subject lines, and if they don't see that it's something they know about or want to know about, just ignore it.)

Also, bumping can be counterproductive. For example, suppose I have that laptop and see the thread, but I'm busy. Then, I see it got 4 replies and think, Gee, I don't have to look at that one.

Ok, sorry, I know bumping is a good way! I also recognize that the forums a busy at ths moment and therefore I thought that many threads disappear! I'm really a newbie to rpm-distributions and most of the things i did learn during the last years of using linux systems aren't useful at this moment cause I've always Debian.

I'm impressed by F10 but I really need my webcam for work, so if this wouldn't work I cannot stay with F10 (for business - for private using I don't really need the cam)!

Anyway, hope somebody know about these issues and/or could me explain how to handle with my problems (for ex. I don't know how to deal with src.rpm or something like that...)

These are some Threads I read about microdia - maybe someone could give me some hints!

Also, when I want to build the driver I got following error:

$ make
make -C /lib/modules/ SUBDIRS=/home/wolfman/Download/microdia modules
make[1]: Entering directory `/lib/modules/'
make[1]: *** Keine Regel, um »modules« zu erstellen. Schluss.
make[1]: Leaving directory `/lib/modules/'
make: *** [driver] Fehler 2
All headers, gcc, make etc are installed so I couldn't find the problem!

Thanx again for any help!
