Unhappy problem with dates when copying files

I have installed fedora 9 (386). When I copy files from the HD to an external usb disk (both ext3) using nautilus or gnome commander the original date of the files is modified and in the usb disk the files have the date of the day when I made the copy.

When I use konqueror or pybackup the dates are OK.

I would very much appreciate your help to fix this problem.
