snort/snort inline/snort+flexresponse

what's the difference between those three in actual usage...
i know snort works with base, but how about inline or flexresponse...
is there a better viewer for snort logs than base...

... sorry for using '...' instead of question marks, for some reason my shift and ctrl buttons all stopped working momentarily.

Would some body help please? I experimenting with snort and I would like to set it as an IDS with logging to mysql database. I am using FC10. I have installed mysql from source and seems to be working fine. The problem is when I try to compile snort with mysql support i.e. --with-mysql it compiles ok and then running make and make install complete successfully. But when I try to run snort -c /opt/snort/etc/snort.conf to start snort in IDS mode I get and error: database 'mysql' support not compiles into this build. I have been googling for a solution for the past week and my hair is almost disappearing. Please help. Sorry if this is the wrong place.
