multiboot problems

So i just installed fedora 7 and i already had Windows xp installed. Multiboot wasn't working so i tried to fix it in rescue mode
chroot /mnt/sysimage
grub-install /dev/sda
but is said
file boot/grub/stage1 not read successfully
What should i do?

Start all over again and make sure you check the disk, that's what I would do anyway...
