Angry Hydrogen and ALSA problem - causes the system to hang

Hi all,

I recently built Hydrogen 0.9.3 from source, but when I start, I get a line in red in my terminal saying:
AlsaAudioDriver Can't set realtime scheduling for ALSA Driver
hydrogen opens, but I can't get any sound from it. I tried to set the sound in the preferences but it hangs my system and I literally have to pull the plug! (I know that's bad by the way, but I lose complete control over everything including mouse movement!).

Can anyone help?
