Opinion on laptop

Hi,

I'm looking for a portable laptop, for daily use and casual development. Main packages I'll be installing are python anaconda, qt designer, java eclipse, scene builder, and R Studio. My preferred desktop is KDE but I'd consider using another one if that becomes a bottleneck.

I'm after opinions on the configuration I've found below for a very good price. Any user experience, pros and cons, that sort of thing

I know I'm not getting anything lightning fast, but my concern if whether I'll be waiting for seconds after each click . Also I quite like the fan-less system. I had one already and it is awesome.

After speed, second concern is disk space. I won't be storing any large data on this machine, no pictures, no videos, etc. It seems that 30 GB is enough for the system and the packages I'll be using, so not sure I need to fill in the available slot with for example a 120 GB SSD.

Also I've read that M2 SSDs are faster than eMMCs, but there seems to be different opinions about how noticeable that difference really is.

  • 13.3" Full-HD LED 1920x1080 16:9 Matt IPS-screen
  • 6. gen Intel Celeron N3450-prosessor 1.1GHz ~ 2.2GHz, 4 cores
  • 4GB DDR3L SO-DIMM RAM
  • 32GB eMMC SSD
  • Room for SSD M.2 2242 SATA
  • Intel HD Graphics 500
  • Aluminium casing
  • 1.3 kg
  • 13mm thick
  • Windows 10 Home (this will of course be wiped out on the first day)

Re: Opinion on laptop

I would try to find one without an OS pre-installed/included. It normally brings the price down.

But if you go with it, don't forget your free t-shirt and drink bottle

Re: Opinion on laptop

I would strongly recommend bumping the memory to 8GB - it makes a huge difference.

That's very old fashioned thinking.
The current model is that it's holographic nested virtualities of turtles, all the way down.
