I disabled it with systemctl stop NetworkManager.service, but system-config-network doesn't work to connect me to my router :/

The error I see is "Determining IP information for wlan0... failed; no link present. Check cable?" -yet this is a wireless network...?
I can't seem to get NetworkManager working now either, even after rebooting. Can I bug you some more for help?

Re: F16 - how to get openvpn running as a daemon/service

Ok you will need to google how to configure your wireless network setup. Enable NetworkManager to connect the system and you will need to install the system-config-network package.

Once you have that done, then find how to configure your wireless interface without it being controlled by Network Manager. The link I posted before show you how to start the network interface and there are some old wireless howto's to show you how to configure the card.

Good luck
