install Thunderbird in Fed 21

Hi all,

I have a fresh install of Fed 21 and I want to use Thunderbird for email. I've looked every place I found in Moz TB support, no luck. I d/l and now have thunderbird-45.5.1.tar.bz2; unfortunately I don't know what to do with it.

My computer experience Is at a basic level, particularly command line. I glanced at the Fedora Set-Up Guides to find fewer than I remember. To boot, it's been years since I've done any nuts-and-bolts computer work.

Re: install Thunderbird in Fed 21

Why the fresh install of an obsolete version of Fedora? We're using F25 now. Normally, we'd tell you to simply install it directly from the repositories, however with F21, I don't think they're being maintained anymore.

That said, if you want to give it a try, open up a terminal, sign in as root (type "su") and then try: "yum install thunderbird". Might work.

Oh, btw, moved the thread to End Of Life.

Re: install Thunderbird in Fed 21

Hi Bob,

Thanks for shifting to End of Life; I didn't notice that subject area until after I sent the post.

Acting on your initial comment, my current problem is now in the 24-25 area, which brings up another example of Fedora Forum ignorance, i.e., how do I do Solved, Done, or No Longer Relevant?

This time I'll take notes ,

Look up at the top of this thread over to the right hand side... There is a drop down menu labeled "Thread Tools" Click on that, and there is an option to mark the thread as solved.

Re: install Thunderbird in Fed 21

Thanks to Bob and DB for your help.

Now I'm dealing with F 24 with a number additions, adjustments and corrections.

I'll be back in the 24-25 area after I dig through the set-up section.

Thanks again
