Re: Video Codec How to

1/ Enable rpmfusion

http://rpmfusion.org/Configuration

Code:
su -c 'dnf install http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm http://download1.rpmfusion.org/nonfree/fedora/rpmfusion-nonfree-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm'
2/ Install mplayer or VLC
Code:
su -
[root password]
dnf install mplayer vlc
--OR--

2/ Install gstreamer plugins
Code:
su -
[root password]
dnf install gstreamer-{ffmpeg,plugins-{good,bad,ugly}} gstreamer1-plugins-{good,ugly}

Re: Video Codec How to

On top of the page, there is a yellow link, named: Fedora Setup Guides
There is a link to http://rpmfusion.org/Configuration
Which provides a good copy-paste guide

Once the repositry is installed, try:
Code:
sudo dnf install ffmpeg x265
Hope this helps

Re: Video Codec How to

Got, it. I was able to install vlc, after installing rpmfusion. I also installed the mpeg h25 codec, will see if that works with default video player.

Re: Video Codec How to

Just some addition, not sure if it is only me.
But recently VLC doesnt play/show all videos(-streams of files) I throw at it, it plays them, but audio only.
However, ffmpeg plays them well.

If you experience the same, and the other players wont play (the actual video stream) neither, and the ffplay syntax annoys you, you might want to try my VHS (see signature) as a fallback solution...

But i hope its just me, and that you wont need it.
Enjoy your Fedora!

Re: Video Codec How to

I don't use VLC, but it may be that it doesn't work with x265. The current rpmfusion's version of mplayer works with it, though mpv doesn't. (Or maybe something has to be done with VLC, as I said, I don't use it. With mplayer, it just works out of the box.)
