cross compiling an appliction

I am cross compiling an application in my linux system.

i am getting the following error.

powerpc-linux-gnu-gcc -msoft-float -lm -L/home/sreekanth/ANSULA/work/913x_WUSDK_REL_1.3/src/ipc/ipc/ freq_corr_fsm.o freq_corr_main.o freq_corr_via_dac.o rftool.o -o rftool /home/sreekanth/ANSULA/work/913x_WUSDK_REL_1.3/src/rfutil/bin/rflib.a -lpthread -lmem

/opt/freescale/usr/local/gcc-4.5.55-eglibc-2.11.55/powerpc-linux-gnu/lib/gcc/powerpc-linux-gnu/4.5.1/../../../../powerpc-linux-gnu/bin/ld: cannot find -lmem

I did a bit of googling and have come to the conclusion that libmem.so could be almost anything

I would attempt to build by leaving off the -lmem and see what unresolved symbols are reported. Once you have some sort of idea what this library is trying to achieve we may be able to point you at an implementation.

One possibility is that it is providing a debugging alternate for malloc, so it may not even be required to get an operational program.
Has anyone seriously considered that it might be turtles all the way down?
That's very old fashioned thinking.
The current model is that it's holographic nested virtualities of turtles, all the way down.
