BASH script gets stuck to prompt after history search

Has anyone else noticed, in bash, sometimes after using <UP> <DOWN> keys to search history of cmds youve executed you get left with an extra little bit of previously executed script stuck to the prompt that you have to `clear` to get rid of?
I know this is really minor but it gets annoying after a while. Does anyone know a fix for this.
BTW im using: GNU bash, version 3.2.33(1)-release (x86_64-redhat-linux-gnu)

Nah my problem is this: open a terminal, hold down <UP> scan through history for a second then press <DOWN> till your back at (what should be) a blank prompt. But the problem is the prompts not blank it has some code stuck to it that you cant delete e.g.

[sam@localhost ~]$ echo

the echo part cant be deleted, like its part of the prompt. Like i said its minor, the extra text goes away after you execute another cmd, just weird is all. I'll see if bash has a bugzilla or something, bring it up there.
