Question nvidia driver needs driver??(driver problem)

hello! every fedoraMania.

i'm newbie here and i just know about little about linux.
so, would you please give me explanation for this problem??

i got very weak performance on my nvidia gForce4 on my fedora 7,
some friends advice me to install the nvidia driver which specialized for linux.

i have folowed all the instruction i've got from some references on the web
including this forum and the nvidia driver installation manual from the official website.

i got this message after run this code:

sh NVIDIA-LINUX-*********.

sorry i forgot the filename , after some process on the terminal, the driver installation windows came up with a kind of message that the drivers only for replacing the older driver,
and the installation stops.

whats going on with my system??
please, give me some explanation for this problem

su -
rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-7.rpm
yum install kmod-nvidia-96xx
nvidia-config-display enable
service nvidia restart

You wont be able to install the command I gave without a internet conection.

The driver you tried to install in post #1 will probably need more packages to build it i.e

Development Tools & a kernel-devel ( internet also needed )

su -
yum install kernel-devel
yum groupinstall "Development Tools"



Because your card is legacy you need a driver that supports old cards

it's pretty difficult because i don't have any internet installed even in my area.

this new message came up when i tried to reinstall the driver
i forgot the message but it says that it needs a precompiled kernel
which is not found on my computer by the nvidia driver installer.

what is 'precomiled kernel'?
where could i get that kernel?

oh, one more,
does the 'livna' driver downloadable through download manager software, so i could copy it to my computer?

nvidia-config-display enable
service nvidia restart
gdm-restart
