After a fresh install of Fedora25 I also tried to disable the tracking stuff, so far this is what I've done:
1) Check the tracker and data status
2) Disable trackers:
cp /etc/xdg/autostart/tracker* ~/.config/autostart/
sed -i 's/X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true/X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=false/' ~/.config/autostart/tracker*
After the next reboot deamons will run but the indexing will be off
4) Delete the old datas tracked:
5) If you want to check if datas are still collected:
mv ~/.local/share/tracker/data ~/.local/share/tracker/data_old
mv ~/.cache/tracker ~/.cache/tracker_old
then compare the old and the new directory.
6) Check the status again:
This is the CLI method and I am not sure if I am completely right about it, may be there 's something better to do ?
There is also the GUI method too called tracker-preferences (dnf install tracker-preferences).
Hope it helps :-)
