BCM43142 Bluetooth

Hi All,

I've recently installed Fedora 20 x64 on my Dell Inspiron 15, and everything is working swell except for the bluetooth. I have a Broadcom BCM43142 hybrid card installed (called the Dell 1705 Wifi Card in Windows) and I managed to get the wifi working by installing broadcom-wl and kmod-wl but the bluetooth does not find any nearby devices. The machine can detect the bluetooth hardware and control its power state, but every boot I find a message in dmesg related to bluetooth reading:

Bluetooth: hci0 command 0x1003 tx timeout
From the research I have done, it seems to be that the firmware for the bluetooth card isn't getting loaded. However, I can find instructions for manually loading the firmware on Ubuntu/Debian but not Fedora. Attached is a few documents to hopefully help with the diagnostics. The machine no longer runs Windows 8 at all, it is now pure Fedora 20 (I've read that people who dual boot can get Windows to load the firmware, then reboot which gives Fedora access to the firmware. I didn't test that however, this is all found from research).

Also, kernel version:

Has anyone had experience with this card in Fedora and more specifically, Fedora 20?

Re: BCM43142 Bluetooth

searching for a module:

inserting a module

removing a module

querying a module(e.g. for parameters that could be set using /dev and /sys)

You can use those to find out if the module is being loaded, if not load it and see if it has parameters that you can tweak.

Re: BCM43142 Bluetooth

I had the same problem in my Dell Inspiron 11 3000. It has the same wifi / bluetooth chip. Here's how I solved it:

I hope it helps.
