Question Huappauge 2200 firmware download failing at boot

Hello all,
I just updated my PVR from F23 to F25 and I cant get my capture card to download the firmware at boot.
I followed the instructions from here: https://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.p...WinTV-HVR-2200
as I have in the past but no joy this time.
I copy the 3 fw files to /lib/firmware but here is the result:
Code:
Jan 03 20:52:01 localhost.localdomain kernel: bcma: Unsupported SPROM revision: 11
Jan 03 20:52:01 localhost.localdomain kernel: bcma: bus0: No SPROM available
Jan 03 20:52:01 localhost.localdomain kernel: saa7164_downloadfirmware() no first image
Jan 03 20:52:01 localhost.localdomain kernel: saa7164_downloadfirmware() Upload failed. (file not found?)
Jan 03 20:52:01 localhost.localdomain kernel: Failed to boot firmware, no features registered
Jan 03 20:52:01 localhost.localdomain kernel: b43-phy0 ERROR: FOUND UNSUPPORTED PHY (Analog 12, Type 11 (AC), Revision 1)
Jan 03 20:52:04 localhost.localdomain avahi-daemon[1101]: chroot.c: open() failed: No such file or directory
For some reason it isnt seeing the files and I have verified they are there in lib/firmware/
Here is the LSPCI info if that helps:
Code:
[pvr@localhost ~] $ lspci |grep Multimedia
06:00.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7164 (rev 81)
[pvr@localhost ~] $ lspci -v -s 06:00.0
06:00.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7164 (rev 81)
Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc. WinTV HVR-2250
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 44
	Memory at f6800000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4M]
	Memory at f6400000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4M]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
	Kernel driver in use: saa7164
	Kernel modules: saa7164
Any advice or guidance would be appreciated!
Using F25_64 with Gnome desktop
Cheers,
Jon

Re: Huappauge 2200 firmware download failing at boot

If it worked before, confirm with older kernel and report regression to linux-media mailing list.

If you are unable to find version of the kernel for F25 that worked with F23, you can install F23 kernel on F25. You need three packages installed for a single kernel, kernel, kernel-core and kernel-modules.

Thank you for the reply!
Does this not mean the driver is installed and working though?
Quote:
Kernel driver in use: saa7164
Kernel modules: saa7164
This leads me to believe that its just not looking in /lib/firmware?

Jan 03 20:52:01 localhost.localdomain kernel: saa7164_downloadfirmware() Upload failed. (file not found?)
Or am I barking up the wrong tree here?
Is there a way to debug, trace or see exactly where the module is looking for the firmware when it states it cant find it?
I can try switching the kernel but I would like to consider that as a last resort as this box also runs my security cams and other important programs which may break if I change the kernel.
I really appreciate the help here!
Cheers,
Jon

Re: Huappauge 2200 firmware download failing at boot

Turns out I needed a little something extra this time.
A dir added to /lib/firmware:
Quote:
sudo cp v4l-saa7164-1.0.2.fw /lib/firmware/3.2.0-59-generic
sudo cp v4l-saa7164-1.0.3.fw /lib/firmware/3.2.0-59-generic
sudo cp dvb-fe-tda10048-1.0.fw /lib/firmware/3.2.0-59-generic
And an extra fie:
Quote:
wget http://www.steventoth.net/linux/hvr2...010-03-10.1.fw
sudo cp NXP7164-2010-03-10.1.fw /lib/firmware
Voila!
I found this great info here: http://www.chadly.net/2014/03/live-t...elementary-os/

Cheers,
Jon
