Hi, unfortunatley on my parent's Fedora machine the printer stopped working. It is a Brother 5890NC.
Worked fine before for printing with the normal Brother drivers and for scanning I had to edit a config file as otherwise it was only possible to scan as root (due to the driver being quite old I assume and not updating the correct config file). This was working for about 4 months.
The printer now stopped working. Scanning works fine. Deactivating SELinux makes no difference. I have reinstalled the driver from Brother & just the automatic install with cups (which works really well in Fedora 26 actually) and they both lead to the same result.
When you attempt to print something via the "lpr" command and the terminal it works completly fine without issues. The printer says "idle" as its status.
When you just open a document or print a webpage it gets sent to the printer followed by "printing..." and then straight after that it says "print stopped". At that point the printers status switches to "idle-no pages found".
In the print orders window it just says "aborted".
in the cups browser window the failed print jobs get listed as "stopped "Filter failed"".
This is the error log I get via troubleshooting in the printer settings:
printer is connected via usb.
does anybody have a solution to this?
