[SOLVED] Is my AMD Radeon R6 Support?

I have a HP Probook laptop with an AMD A10 APU 9874 c5 with Radeon R6 Graphics.

My display is NOT working correctly. I have to boot with nomodeset, otherwise I boot to a blank screen. Resolution is low, does not wake from sleep or hibernation and no dual monitor working.

I am so confused by my research. I've discovered that some AMD graphic cards are no longer supported by AMD or recent kernels. I don't know much about graphic cards, so does this apply to my card or not? If so, does this mean I'm screwed with ever getting this laptop working correctly with a recent kernel?

Card info.

Re: Is my AMD Radeon R6 Support?

you may do better using CentOS 7.3 and the crimson 15.12 driver

Re: Is my AMD Radeon R6 Support?

Carrizo is a Volcanic Island GCN 1.2 card so xorg-x11-drv-amdgpu needs to be installed.
There is a COPR repository allowing further optimization for this card: https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/co...inline-kernel/ should you need only open source driver which AMD recommends.

Re: Is my AMD Radeon R6 Support?

Thank you Finalzone!

Installed the copr repo and everythng is working.

You have cleared up several things for me. In my research I saw several cards referenced as GCN X.X or as Sea Island or Southern Island and I had no idea if my card was associated with any of those names.
