The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.

Of late, I've been experiencing an inability to access FedoraForum.org because of this error:

Code:
The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.
Is it from a possible DDOS attack, or is Fedora becoming more popular? I'd like to think the second.

I've been on and off here since '05.

Same message here, repeatedly, but site became accessible within a minute each time.

Re: The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.

Hi, I've noticed this happens more frequently too since the forum has been transferred to a different server due to a change of ownership. It's not something we have control over as admins and is entirely the responsibility of the new forum owner to decide how much they want to spend on bandwidth capacity for the forum.

I believe it is not a DDoS though, so please be patient and try again. Being logged in seems to help reduce the busy error message count when browsing the forum too.

Re: The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.

We're not in close contact with the new owner at this time and I'm heading off to a Boston-area hospital to help out during a relative's surgery this week so can't make contact with him until after the weekend. If it keeps up, I'll try to make contact early next week.

Re: The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.

Does the server busy response show up in the server logs, or do we have to report same?

I experienced the busy response over the weekend. I attributed it to perhaps "server backups running".

As Bob said, the mods don't necessarily have access to the server itself (as opposed to the controls in the forum software).

please don't report anything directly to forum staff. instead, can you please make a note of outages here in this thread as and when you can get back in?

Re: The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.

I have been getting these (or nothing at all) sporadically the last few months. Sometimes I get 404 errors, other times the message reported above.

As Marko states, another try several seconds later is usually successful.

EDIT:
Perhaps unrelated (well of course it is), it all started after the big reported DNS attack ... sorry I don't remember dates.

Re: The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later.

the DoS attack targeted the forum old server. as far as I'm aware we haven't had one since it was transferred over to the new owner's server.
