I was hoping someone could help me diagnose a printing problem that I'm having. I have a Brother DCP-7020 which has worked flawlessly with other distributions in the past. In Fedora 26 I'm getting some errors related to CUPS filters. You can see the full log for attempting to print a simple text file here: https://pastebin.com/vmG61jVe
It looks like it's trying to run two filters: pdftopdf and foomatic-rip. The pdftopdf filter crashes, which causes the whole process to fail. I'm a little perplexed as to why it's using the pdftopdf filter to begin with.
To give you an overview of what I've tried:
1. I've disabled SELinux as this seemed to interfere with CUPS
2. I've been able to successfully delete and readd the printer multiple times, it's connected locally via USB and it uses the Foomatic/hl1250 driver which is the recommended driver for that printer. The reason I'm pointing this out is that it seems to be less of an issue with the printer driver, and more with the CUPS filter chains.
3. I've tried printing different file types: PDF, text files, etc. but I always receive CUPS filter errors.
Any advice or tips would be appreciated!
