CUPS: "Filter failed" when printing from Brother HL-2340DW

I'm on Fedora 26, and I have started getting this error when printing from Gnome dialog, such as in Evince and Chrome, but if I print through Master PDF editor, which is not a Gnome/gtk app, or at least doesn't have system print dialog(maybe that's what I'm referring to), seems to work.

However, Chrome won't work with either... in both cases, saying "filter failed."

Same here. If it is not "Filter failed" it is Can't detect file type". This has only happened since I installed the latest tranche of updates this morning.

Printer is Canon iP4600 - have not tried the Brother yet.

Yesterday's updates fixed the printer problem(s). I closed my Fedora/RedHat bugzilla report as "works for me".
