Reverting back to nouveau from bumblebee/nvidia fails

After the latest kernel update, bumblebee and the nvidia drivers fail. I decided to simply revert back to nouveau drivers but that doesn't work. I believe I have deleted everything relevant: dkms, bbswitch, bumblebee, nvidia drivers, xorg files... I don't know what else to try.

I have a Fedora 17 x86_64 system installed on an Asus N55SF laptop.

Here's the output of
rpm -qa *\nvidia\* *\kernel\*|sort;uname -r;lsmod |grep -e nvidia -e nouveau;cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
lspci |grep VGA

nouveau 886587 0
mxm_wmi 12823 1 nouveau

i2c_core 38177 7 drm,i915,i2c_i801,drm_kms_helper,i2c_algo_bit,nouveau, videodev
cat: /etc/X11/xorg.conf: No such file or directory

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Device 1247 (rev a1)
Any ideas? Anything else I should provide (logs, outputs, etc)?

Here's the output of "startx" and "systemctl status prefdm.service":

Re: Reverting back to nouveau from bumblebee/nvidia fails

I'm on the verge of a breakthrough and I suspect this is an easy fix (though Google is mute).

I made a live image of fedora on a usb stick and copied the contents of its X11 over to my computers X11 directory (after backing that directory up and removing it).

Now the screen flickers between a black screen and a screen with the cursor loading, which I find extremely promising. Display Manager obviously starts (and I can confirm that), but I think I need to configure some file or something in the X11 directory in order to make it function (I suspect it's configure for the /dev/sdd/ usb device).

Any ideas?

I don't want to start programming in Java on Windows to do my school assignments...

From Xorg.0.log I saw an error that module modesetting didn't exit so I installed it with "yum install xorg-x11-drv-modesetting". No changes so far. There are 3-4 warnings in Xorg.0.log but no more errors.
