SSH -X slow after FC22->FC25

I've been running FC22 on my server (AMD 1090, 20ram). When working from my laptop I would/can "ssh -X me@server thunderbird" an up pops my email, ran fine. I just moved to FC25 and now when I read my email it is painfully slow. Before, it was very responsive - click, up - click, open, now click,circling circling circling up, menu, ............ up, mark all ........................ done. When on the server thunderbird runs full speed and if, on my laptop I run it in VNC, fast. Via SSH -X freek'n turtle speed. Any thoughts? Oh, and killing a process takes even longer.

Thanks

Re: SSH -X slow after FC22->FC25

The only I can think is the cipher that you are using (as the ciphers used may have changed based on the ssh version you are using -- I just learned this lol). Here is an article talking about ciphers, among other things:

http://www.linuxjournal.com/node/6602/print

Also, perhaps you could try using ssh -Y (which has less security precautions) instead of ssh -X.

Re: SSH -X slow after FC22->FC25

So after 96 distractions ... So I Googled for 'test ssh speed' I found a script - gens a 100k file and does a scp to remote box then brings it back. (side: it uses /dev/zero - long story I'd rather us /dev/urandom) So with:
Code:
Compression:    OFF                     On              On             Off
Cipher:         None                    None            On             On
Upload speed:   1669.10 kB/s            91.01 kB/s      76.84 kB/s     1012.06 kB/s
Download speed: 4913.51 kB/s            111.35 kB/s     50.37 kB/s     3122.56 kB/s
Color me a bit confused. Seems the setting compression=yes slows things way down. Cipher doesn't seem to make much difference.

Although I can't measure it having compression=Yes ?seems? to make things run faster
Thoughts?
