PREFIX question?

Hi All,

In ifcfg-xxxx, do I presume correctly that `PREFIX=xx` is the short netmask?

And do I also presume that PREFIX has superseded NETMASK?

And can either still be used?

Many thanks,
-T

Re: PREFIX question?

It's the CIDR version.

https://www.oav.net/mirrors/cidr.html

Assuming it's a typical home network, you want 24.
Code:
PREFIX="24"

Re: PREFIX question?

Thank you for the confirmation.

Can I still use NETMASK? What happens if I use both?

Re: PREFIX question?

I have no idea.
Use one or the other, you don't need both.
