minecraft lan party
Ok to open a minecraft game to a lan is pretty easy.
When you open to lan mincraft gives you a port number. Just open that on your firewall, refresh the multiplayer server list on the client and start gaming.
The problem in this instance is which PC hosts the lan party.
Two PC's. Both are mine and my setup. 1 is FC24 spin with Cinnamon on a desktop pc, 2 is FC25 spin with Cinnamon on a laptop pc. Laptop is not ideal due to heat issues.
Now. When I open to lan on the FC25 laptop the FC24 pc can log into the party happily.
But. when the FC24 desktop pc hosts the party, I cannot join the game from the FC25 laptop. Despite both being on the same lan range.
Other than version numbers the only real difference in OS setup is that the user account on the FC24 desktop is not an admin. This is because my 8yld son is the main user. So it's set up for SNES emulator, Netflix, YouTube etc...
Both of our PC's can join an independent minecraft server elsewhere.
Any ideas as to what I've done wrong on the desktop PC ?
