Unhappy Failure to mount storage devices (FC5)

I brought up /media using Konqueror
this showed icons for my 4 devices:Floppy; Iomega zip 250 & 2 CD-ROM drives
The IDE CD-ROM drive is mounted during booting (even though there is no reference to it in th fstab file.
Right clicked on each of the other 3 in turm and chose 'MOUNT
The other (USB) CD-ROM gave the error message "FAILED TO MOUNT" as did the Floppy
The (USB) Zip gave the error message "MOUNT WITH SIGNATURE "ssas" ON INERFACE
"org.freedesktop.Hal.Device Volume doesn't exist. puttin reference s to these devices in fstab does not solve the problem. Please help.
