Acer monitor not being detected.

Monitor model: Acer AL1716w

I'm running Fedora 16 (Verne) (Gnome 3)
Laptop model: Toshiba Satellite A665 S6094
Graphics card : nVidia GT218 [GeForce 310M] (rev a2)
Driver: nvidia (it's their proprietary driver, not sure if there's several versions)

I'm trying to connect the above monitor to my laptop as a second screen. It's connected through vga and was detected in windows 7. When attempting to detect monitors, the built laptop monitor I'm currently using as my primary is tagged "unknown" even though it works fine.

Anyone know what's up with it?

Re: Acer monitor not being detected.

Which configuration program did you use? There should be a program like nVidia Display Settings to configure the nvidia driver. What does xrandr have to say about the displays?
