Using Gedit as Root

I have been trying to do some editing as Root and I get a message everytime I try to open 'gedit' at the command line. This error is ' Gtk-WARNING **: Attempting to store changes into `/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel', but failed: Failed to create file '/root/.local/share/recently-used.xbel.65H3AW': No such file or directory'. The editor opens but I was wondering why this error shows each time. Is there something I can do to dispense with this message or possibly an explanation as to why it shows up. Thanks...
Robert :)
