yum update problem with kernel that no longer exists

I was hoping I would get some sanity back from my yum update problem. A few updates ago everything went fine until now I get:

Running rpm_check_debug
ERROR with rpm_check_debug vs depsolve:
kernel-uname-r = is needed by (installed) kmod-wl-

So I tried to look for old kernel:

rpm -qa | grep kernel

What is exactly going on here?

Looks like an orphaned kmod package. You forgot to mention that this was an upgrade from a previous Fedora release (or so it appears).

Just remove the (obviously useless) kmod-wl package.

Oh yes, sorry, forgot to mention that.

But kmod package removed and sanity is slowly returning as yum is updating

I just received the same error message also today and reading this thread helped me.

The kernel-uname-r = is needed by (installed) kmod-nvidia- message and removing the kmod fixed it.
