Blank screen when user quits (multiple users logged in)

I have noticed a problem in Fedora 12 that I would like to try to resolve with this forums help (as I am a newbie to Linux [~1 week] and wouldn't know where to start).

The problem I am experiencing is when I have two or three users logged in, and one of the users quits, a black screen is displayed and I have to re-boot the PC. This only occurs when multiple users are logged in and doesn't occur when only a single user quits.

Does anyone know if this is a known bug (seems quite severe!) or is it a configuration problem that can be resolved?

Any hints or suggestions would be gratefully received.
