cvs on xinetd listening

Some time over the past week I noticed cvspserver started listening on tcp/2401.

2401/tcp open cvspserver
It is affiliated with xinetd.

tcp 0 0 *:cvspserver *:* LISTEN 1907/xinetd
I'm just not familiar with any reason why that should be listening. Also, it fairly recently started doing that. I was wandering if anyone has any explanations.
