The letters remind me of the Labello logo. But it's cool, certainly better than the current one.

Yes, although a hat and stylized "Fedora" is good, time for something new.
Moved.

They want to spin Fedora away from being a "Red-Har product" so I guess the new logo is ineveitable.

Yes hopefully it will be something that gives the world of users and non-users of Fedora the feeling that this is Fedora, not Redhat Linux Fedora. So yeah I'll miss the blue hat as well as the red hat but its got to happen eventually.

I like the hat better. I think it's just because the hat's simpler.

I love the RedHat(the start bar one) and the BlueHat(up at the top of this forum logos, so I would hate to see a change.

I have no problem with it being a hat...after all, a "fedora" is a hat

Red Hat, the company that will be paying for a *ton* of Fedora
development for the foreseeable future, *strongly* prefers that Fedora not
use a straight-up hat. Out of respect for the relationship with Red Hat,
and the resources that Red Hat provides and will continue to provide, the
Fedora project will not use a straight-up hat.

By the way: Fedora also means "Gift of God". Fedora is a Greek variant of Theodora, which means gift of God :-)

I never cared for the hat logo when I used RedHat and I don't care for a hat logo now that I use Fedora. If you look at how they developed the new logo I think that its an excellent idea. I still don't want to see it branded on the panel after a clean installation though.
...the horror...
