There you go, there's your loophole. It's got to have a hat in somewhere, at least while it's called Fedora.(NOTE: clever treatments of secondary Fedora images that involve a hat as
an element may well be a different matter.)
I quite agree with DeKoenigsberg on this issue. Does this mean we'll have to abandon the "Fedora" name as well?
My first thought was ......... WTF
It's too flat and two dimensional. At least the hat logos gave the appearance of a three dimensional object. Leaves me cold.
Te Logo is OK I guess. I guess it just needs to be polished up a bit more. So does that mean this site will use the new logo instead of the hat as well?

Here is the variation of the first logo draft I made. Opinion?

I believe it has already been established that there will be no hat. However there should be some art. The logo should not appear to have been created using a vector based 2D CAD application with color fill. And where is the warmth?
what is wrong with the old one anyway? I like the old one - it is clear and simple. and it is already well known - what kind of marketing is that? that kind to threw away already established and known logotype? I don't get it.
It is only a preview thus no means the draft will retain the flat look. I attempt to give a variation on this concept by adding shads and effects to see how it may end up. Personnaly, I have a mixed feeling as well for the first draft. I will wait how the second draft will turn out.Originally Posted by smfinley

What do you call the old one?. Fedora letters were the previously used one but as explained before not many people realised it was a logo and there have been attempts to create other ones by the community, so this is a process to get that right and create a new one that hopefully appeals to a wider community of Fedora usersOriginally Posted by kosmosik

The original looks professional -- too corporate for something that's supposed to represent the spirit of this corner of the Linux community. It just doesn't have ANYTHING to do with Fedora. (Okay, it has a tiny "f".)
And what's with this "infinite freedom' slogan? It sounds like such marketing schlock to my ears. It's like the guys at Jack-in-the-Box coming up with "Think outside the bun". Pulllease.
I'm grateful to Red Hat for putting Fedora out here and putting so much paid engineering time into it. It's a great distro, and they certainly deserve a major say in what happens with Fedora. But why are they stealthing this logo process from their own user community? Don't we count for something too?
Bottom line for me on any Fedora logo: WHERE'S THE HAT??
Fedora logo was the text "Fedora". There were never image logo for Fedora. The hat came from users. When you visited fedora.redhat.com, no where you will see blue hat.Originally Posted by jspaar

Just to clarify, the logo of Fedora was the word 'fedora'
the logo of fedoraforum.org was the blue hat everyone is thinking of
Hats can be included. They just have to not look too much like the Red Hat hat.(NOTE: clever treatments of secondary Fedora images that involve a hat as
an element may well be a different matter.)
