    Logout crash?

Hi, I've just installed FC3 on my good old AMD 350MHz, 20 GB HD, 196MB RAM machine. FC3 has the whole machine to itself.

All seems to work but logging out crashes the machine. I can reboot and everything returns, I can go into root and user accounts, but logging out will freeze again.
Can I logout X from a console and check result?
What happens if you logout. Does X shut down or restart or what?

I tried to check log files but couldn't find anything. Any directions ?

I guess I might try to change to the

    vesa

video driver in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and see if the behaviour is the same. If it logs out fine then, it would be a visit to bugzilla blaming the X video driver you are normally using I would think.

i seem to have a crash with 2.6.11 and hal 0.4.7 at shutdown when using USB drives - but it's a complete system freeze, not just X.

    It's a known bug.

I had to revert from 2.6.11-1.14 back to 2.6.11-1.7 in order for the problem to go away. I tried stepping up to 2.6.11-1.21, but my nvidia video drivers wouldn't work anymore and I haven't had time to troubleshoot it.

damn, well reverting back to hal 0.4.0 solved my problem - except with 0.4.0 automounting is broken.....

so it's either have automounting and crash at shutdown, or don't have automounting!

maybe i'll just wait for the 16k stack driverloader 2.6.11-21 kernel update....
