    XGL on Fedora?

So how could one -- persay one wanted to -- try out some simple XGL files on Fedora? I would like to get whatever experimental version of it is out there working on FC4t2 when it comes out on April 11th. I'm just planning ahead. Anyone tried Xgl out yet?

Yeah, xgl looks extremely promising. As fedora tries to be a cutting edge distro i'm hoping for it in fc6...

i would there would be no chance of getting this in fc5, i think the release date of the final build is basically dependant on when gnome 2.14 gets released, the xgl stuff hasn't even been backported into the gnome tree yet.

i'd expect it in fc6, and before you ask, its very unlikely to be available as a yum update to fc5.

I seriously hope, that they won't ditch X.Org for that... having the need to own a suitable graphics adapter is not nice.. especially for older machines

Xgl is a modular X server for X.Org, so I doubt they will be getting rid of it.

    Hi

Here is how one can test the new eyecandy stuff with Fedora (Rawhide).
    See https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedo.../msg00641.html

Note that it is not working with the binary nvidia driver at this time
    https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedo.../msg00647.html
but nvidia is working on it http://lists.freedesktop.org/archive...ry/012764.html

Edit: one can keep track of aiglx development here

You mean "FC5" and "March 15" (unless I've somehow travelled back in time)

I've installed the rpms but I dont see any changes in my system. Im using kde, so I installed gnome too thinking that it only works with gnome. So how do I enable those fading stuff and other xgl functionalities.

Now that's weird..my shift key doesnt work with punctionation marks. Even I cant type the question mark while typing here. Only the letters work.

    Do you know about AIGLX?
The Xgl's rival created by the Fedora project.

I would like AIGLX on FC5 rather than XGL. There's no reason to replace X.Org.

AIGLX is a viable alternative than XGL. No wonder that videocard manufacturer like Nvidia prefer that approach due to the use of existing codes.
