    Persistent

I tried making a Fedora live USB with persistent storage but it didn't work, so looking around I found a live image called 'kali', which had working persistent storage out-of-the-box so to speak. After checking it out I realized it came with few usable apps but had several hacker tools, so I formatted the USB stick.

But the next day I noticed my laptop's host name had changed from 'localhost' to 'kali', even though /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname still showed it as 'localhost'. I changed it back to 'localhost' and forgot about it, but today the host name was 'kali' again.

A search found 6 kali folders (symlinks) in ~/.kde, that pointed to /var/cache, and apparently sockets and tmp. So be advised Kali is persistent even after it's gone.
    I know things. It's what I do.

    Re: Persistent

    Update:
Since I deleted the kali files in ~/.kde they haven't reappeared, but every couple of days or so my hostname is still getting changed from localhost' to 'kali'. I've searched my home and root folders but found no reference to kali.
