Dear all,

Thank you for the great community and comprehensive answers.

I have a chance to become an owner of Thinkpad T490s, and I already check all the hardware and everything should work on most GNU/Linux OS. My concern is the following: laptop does not have an integrated ethernet port, instead, you get a proprietary connector/dongle. Is this Ethernet port work as normal ethernet port on Fedora 30? Does anybody try it? Any experiences or knowledge about that?

To better describe my needs, I am using a virtual machine for every client and I am connecting to their hardware via Ethernet port. Most of you know how challenging can be to configure Ethernet to work on a virtual machine (I am writing software to communicate with SoCs, Micro Controllers, sometimes PLCs) so if this proprietary thing is more of the problem I can stick with Dell Latitude series?
