    Resource limits with browsers

    Fedora 30, Mate desktop spin
    Intel i5-3570K CPU
    8 GB RAM
    Up-to-date kernel 5.2.7-200.fc30.x86_64

When I install the falkon browser (falkon-3.1.0-1.fc30.x86_64) and use it to surf to my Gmail account, I continually encounter errors like this:
    [1:1:0814/105327.488360:ERRORlatform_thread_posix.cc(124)] pthread_create: Resource temporarily unavailable (11)
Then I get a message about 'click here to reload the page'.

    ---
When I install the opera browser (opera-stable-62.0.3331.116-0.x86_64) and use it to surf to my Gmail account, I continually encounter errors like this:
    [1:1:0724/094939.778249:ERRORlatform_thread_posix.cc(129)] pthread_create: Resource temporarily unavailable (11)
Then I get a message about 'click here to reload the page'.

    ---
Obviously this has something to do with limits on thread creation. I don't know of it involves the kernel or systemd. What can I try to overcome this?

    Re: Resource limits with browsers

First I would check what the limits are and what the process is using.

First get the pid of the browser, eg with ps or use the System Monitor.
    Then
    Code:
    cat /proc/[pid]/limits | grep processes
    cat /proc/[pid]/status | grep Threads
to see what the limits are and what is being used.

User error. Please replace user and try again

OK. I am not familiar with reading the status file. Does anything here look suspicious?

    Re: Resource limits with browsers

Nothing stands out as being a problem. There is obviously no way that you are hitting the limit on the number of threads (unless you are also running something that is eating all your resources).

User error. Please replace user and try again
